Experiences & Accomplishments
Trained as an epidemiologist and biostatistician, I have been practicing statistical consulting for more than 15 years. During this time, I have collaborated with numerous investigators and provided statistical support for grants, abstract- and manuscript preparation and scientific report writing. My early collaborations included time-to-event analyses of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep-disordered breathing as risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease as well as evaluation of longitudinal outcome trajectories in children and adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, mood dysregulation, and concussion. More recently I have joined the JHU-Tufts Trial Innovation Center (TIC) as the lead biostatistician providing trial design and execution leadership for supporting NIH/NCATS-funded Helping to End Addiction Long-Term (HEAL) Pain Management Effectiveness Research Network (ERN) program. I have served as a primary biostatistician in clinical trials testing the role of a behavioral intervention to promote better end-of-life decisions, psychotherapy for mood and behavior dysregulation, nurse education program for prevention of thromboembolism, prevention of central-line-associated bloodstream infections as well as treatment of hemorrhagic stroke and post stroke recovery.
Since 2011, I teach the "Introduction to Clinical Research" course offered through the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) to provide formal clinical research training a group of prospective investigators in wide range of clinical fields. I am also one of the principal faculty in the Graduate Training Program in Clinical Investigation, a joint venture between the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and School of Medicine; it trains clinical faculty, postdoctoral fellows and other health professionals to be more effective clinical scientists by giving them skills in necessary to design and conduct clinical investigations of emerging medical treatments and technologies. I teach both in-class and on-line versions of the Quantitative Analysis of Clinical Data course.
