Student Opportunities Award Winners
Meet the 2025–26 recipients of the Student Opportunities Award. Funded by Bloomberg School alumni and friend donations, this new award offsets financial barriers for students completing non-compensated applied learning experiences.
Cristian Flore
Cristian is working with the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington to evaluate a patient navigation and education program to better understand barriers to follow-up eye care in underserved communities. Through surveys, follow-up data analysis, and workflow assessment, he will strengthen patient engagement through actionable recommendations to increase follow-up adherence and improve access to vision care.
Erika Ito
Erika Ito is pursuing an MPH/MBA dual degree through the Bloomberg School and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. Erika is collaborating with CAF-Banco de Desarrollo de America Latina y el Caribe to lead the first regional mapping of digital and mental health investments in Latin America and the Caribbean. Her analysis will identify gaps, funding patterns, and priority areas for coordinated investment, to inform digital innovation strategies for equitable, community-based mental health services.
Kofi Keelson
Kofi Keelson is an MPH student working to elevate My Safety Steps, a survivor-centered digital intervention designed to address firearm-related risks among individuals experiencing intimate partner violence. Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Bushra Sabri, Kofi will contribute to intervention refinement, community engagement, and dissemination activities, supporting the evaluation and implementation of the intervention.
Emily Lamberson
Emily Lamberson is an MPH student concentrating in Health Systems and Policy. Emily will work with LeadingAge Maryland to advocate for aging policies that advance not-for-profit aging services organizations during the 2026 Maryland General Assembly session.
Conqualla Scott
Conqualla Scott is pursuing an MPH/MSW dual degree through the Bloomberg School and the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Conqualla will work with Brazza International Foundation (BIF) to integrate perinatal mental health services in Accra, Ghana. Conqualla will conduct a scoping review of Person-Centered Maternity Care and World Health Organization Toolkit best practices to produce validated mental health resource guides and surveys.
Ariel Tee
Ariel Tee is an MPH student concentrating in Health Systems and Policy. Ariel will work with the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence to strengthen global advocacy and stakeholder engagement efforts to enhance global surveillance.
